Ball Sure
There is a general rule for the position of the ball with long irons?
I played for many years and I'm still not sure the position of the ball. I usually play the ball a few inches in front of the center for long irons, hands, even with the ball at address.
It's really personal preference and the type of swing you have. For me, it depends on the type of shot that I hit will strike. If I'm giving high and land soft, I have to move a ball or a ball and a half before the center. A few inches seems a lot. If I want touch a base runner (AKA Sting), I put the ball in the center of my position. If I'm hit by a bullet while trying to keep it under a branch, then put the in my position. But it's really down to what is comfortable for you.
