Canning Jars
Jars may be simmered for a few hours?
I make tamales. I have a steamer bamboo, but not for small vessels put in place, but I have a big pot to put it into. I have to lift the bottom of the pot and asks if I put 2 jars of preserves in there (on the side, not the background) and bring the boat over them, break the jars for 1.5 hours to steam the tamales is expected? Whaddya think?
Do not see why not be acceptable, although I must add that you may want to use three because they add more stability than two ..... Remember, Mason jars are expected resist pressure canning as well as "hot bath" technique, also because they face long steam in water boiling without any problem .... Enjoy your tamales!
