War Era Bottle
Old European whisky bottle?
Can anybody give me the name to those old civil war era whiskey bottles? They are made out of glass with a big hole in the middle so you can hang it on your arm, and they also have a music box underneath at the bottom of it. Thanks!

My Great-Great-Grandfather fought in the War of Northern Aggression.
He left us a quart whiskey bottle that had a handle and a shoulder strap.
During that war, almost every Southern farmer brewed beer and distilled alcohol
Farmers gave it to Southern soldiers.
Both beer and whiskey were carried by soldiers. Beer was the preferred drink
with meals because the water supplies were unsafe. When a soldier was wounded,
his whiskey was used first so he would feel no pain and then to cauterize his wound.
Today's Growlers are half-gallons and are used primarily for beer.
